Williamson Opens Up About Ball State Verbal

We talked with one of the two under-the-radar verbal commitments that Ball State picked up this week.

Ball State picked up a verbal commitment for the Class of 2015 in the form of under-the-radar OG Grant Williamson.

The 6-4 265 Williamson had picked up an offer from the Cardinals during a visit in March and decided officially to come to Muncie on Monday.

"The coaching staff made me feel part of a family and I have a dedication to something larger than myself," Williamson said regarding his decision. "Coach (Pete) Lembo has had great success on and off the field. I feel very grateful to have the chance to play for Coach Lembo and (Offensive Line Coach John) Strollo. I am looking forward to playing with a great group of teammates. I couldn't ask for a better place to call home."

Williamson chose the Cardinals over an offer from Central Michigan and interest from Purdue and Miami – all of which he visited.

"Ball State was by far the best," Williamson said of the visits he made.

So what can Ball State fans expect out of Williamson?

"We run a power option style offense with run heavy tendencies," Williamson said. "We make many reads and calls, always adjusting to the defense. I pride myself with run blocking and always protecting the quarterback. Along with making every play call and audible needed at the line."
