Muskegon (MI) FS Alezay Coleman was supposed to make a trip to Ball State a few weeks earlier but that trip was derailed when the coach from Muskegon that was supposed to take Coleman to Muncie hit a deer and totaled his car.
There was no such incident this time as Coleman was able to be in attendance for the Ball State Spring Football Game on Saturday in Muncie.
" I liked that Coach (Pete) Lembo really spoke a lot about the education and how their program is like a family," Coleman said. "The campus was huge! I love how their defense flew around and made plays, it made me want to go out of the field and play,, but overall Ball State is by far a great program and I can see myself going there, also I spoke with Coach (Justin) Lustig, Coach Pete, and the head recruiting guy Tilmon Clark."
Coleman is one of the FS prospects in the state of Michigan and helped guide his team to a runner-up finish in the Michigan State football championship last season along with former teammate and Ball State signee Malik King.
" I am a very smart football player," Coleman said when asked of his strengths. " I'm coachable. I'm always looking to make the next play. I am on every tackle or around it. I'm a great influence on my teammates, they trust me when it comes down to calling coverages and I'm .just depicted as a great leader."
As for recruiting, Coleman has been hearing from a lot of schools and plans to attend camps all over. He is hearing from Michigan, Michigan State, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Iowa, Purdue, Illinois, Syracuse, Arizona and Northern Illinois.
