Lakewood DB Offered by Cardinals

Ball State Coach Keith Gaither hit the ground running this week in Florida and offered his first set of recruits on Monday.

Ball State offered one of the Florida's top under-the-radar DBs in St. Petersburg Lakewood's Tyrell Hubbard-Smith on Monday.

For the 5-10 175 Hubbard-Smith, it is his first offer and it was one of two offers given to Lakewood athletes that day.

"It felt great," Hubbard-Smith said. "To know someone was aware of all the hard work I've been putting in."

Hubbard-Smith is a lockdown corner who shows toughness and a great work ethic both on and off the field.

"I'm very competitive, humble, a hard-worker, and positive on and off the field," Hubbard-Smith when asked to describe his strengths. "(I am) a player who loves the game and has fun doing what I love. My strengths are my football IQ and my work ethic. Fans can expect a high energy type of guy who is very passionate about the game."

Ball State may be Hubbard-Smith's first offer, but with the likes of Auburn, Clemson, Miami, Missouri, Syracuse, Cincinnati, Akron, Indiana, Iowa State, UCF and South Florida recruiting him, there will surely be more offers to come.
