Versatile ATH Picks Up Ball State Offer

Ball State is active again in the Tar Heel state, offering a promising looking athlete.

There is versatile and then there is Mahlon Medley.

The 6-3 220 ATH from Charlotte's Berry Tech spent time lining up and making plays at WR, TE, Slot & RB. On Monday, that versatility earned him his first offer, from Ball State.

" I was excited but humble," Medley said of the offer. "I knew that my time would come and I'm glad that the coaching staff saw something in me to offer me a scholarship."

Medley had a strong feeling that the offer from Ball State was on its way over the weekend, but he had to wait until Monday to get the final word.

"Coach (Keith) Gaither called me Saturday and told me that all the coaches liked my film the OC (Joey Lynch) just had to watch it," Medley said. "He told me to call him back. I called this morning (Monday) and he said that the coaching staff was excited about me and wanted to offer me a full scholarship."

After both running the ball and lining up at myriad positions during his junior year, Medley understands that his versatility is something that has college coaches' interest piqued.

"I'm a very versatile player, you can use me anywhere on the field and I'm a very physical and tough player," Medley said. "I also bring the leadership to the table, not only by actions, but vocally and I think that's what the coaching staff was most excited about."

Medley has interest from a ton of different colleges to go with his offer from Ball State. Schools including Duke, Auburn, Louisville, Tennessee, North Carolina, Charlotte, Appalachian State, Georgia State, North Carolina State, Wake Forest, Michigan and Stanford have all inquired about his services.
