Cardinal Commit Capsule: Zac Ricketts

Cardinals hope OL turns out as well as last Indiana small school find.

Commit: Zac Ricketts, 6-5 290, Bremen, IN (Bremen)

Why Ball State: “I decided on Ball State, because all the coaches have put together the best program in the Mid-American Conference. They consider everyone as family/.”

Interest/Offers: No other offers.

Scouting Report: Ball State has struck gold once before by unearthing an Indiana small school giant OL, that player was Kitt O’Brien who ended up being an all-conference performer who is now a starter in the Arena Football League. Ricketts reminds me a lot of O’Brien, not just in stature, but also in talent. Ricketts is head and shoulders above his competition in terms of skill set but it is his athleticism that truly sets him apart. Ricketts works best in the running game because that is what his team does the most, but also show the ability to dominate in pass protection. Ricketts is big, but looks like he can certainly get bigger. I believe he has the ability to either slide inside like O’Brien did for the Cardinals, or stay outside at OT. Either way, I can say I was pleasantly surprised by his film.
