Cardinal Commit Capsule: James Gilbert

One of the top RB prospects in Indiana committed to Ball State.

Commit: James Gilbert, 5-9 195, Indianapolis (Lawrence Central)

Why Ball State: “I can't wait to be a Cardinal. I love everything about their program.”

Interest/Offers: Formerly committed to Western Michigan. Other offers included Temple, Toledo, Akron, Miami and Northern Illinois.

Scouting Report: There is no doubting that Gilbert is one of the top RB prospects in Indiana. On film, he shows great speed and quickness in the short area. He has the ability to change direction quickly and has good vision and acceleration to make him a great cut back runner. Gilbert is also adept at receiving out of the backfield and his big play ability will make him an asset in space and in one-on-one situations. Gilbert, who transferred from Indianapolis Arsenal Tech to Lawrence Central, was ruled ineligible for his senior season by the IHSAA, a decision he is appealing and hoping is overturned before the end of the season.
