Ball State Roundup: Gilbert Back on the Field

Updates on the high school seasons of a handful of Ball State’s 2015 commits.

It didn’t take long for one of the top RBs in Indiana for the class of 2015 to get back into the swing of things.

James Gilbert stepped back onto the field for the first time in the 2014 season in a big way.

The 5-9 195 RB, who had transferred back to Indianapolis Arsenal Tech after transferring to Lawrence Central and being ruled ineligible by the IHSAA over the summer, racked up 148 yards and four touchdowns … on just 6 carries as Tech steamrolled Indianapolis Manual, 68-0.

<.p>Hammonds highlights up

Louisville Ballard DE/LB/TE Sean Hammonds sent us his highlights over the first four games on Monday and boy are we excited to have him in a Cardinal uniform. Hammond is explosive off of the edge and can rush the QB or drop back into coverage equally as well.

Cook shines in victory

Wawasee WR Clayton Cook collected 116 yards receiving, 75 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns, as well as making the game saving tackle on 4th down at the 2 yard line in his team’s 27-21 victory over NorthWood.

“We have had a rough start,” Cook said of his 3-2 Warriors. “But I believe we are turning it around.”

Dunner recovering

Dundee-Crown RB/WR Malik Dunner injured his ankle during his squad’s season opening victory over Elgin. After missing the past three contests, Dunner is almost back to full strength and ready to play.

“Yeah, it is currently getting back to normal, Dunner said. “But I’m expecting to play this Friday.”
