Yager Recaps Ball State Visit

Still searching for his first offer – Blake Yager talks about his visit this past weekend to Muncie and what other teams are keeping an eye on him.

Blake Yager is still searching for that first offer, but is confident that he might just get one from Ball State, a school his visited this past weekend during their homecoming loss to Western Michigan.

”I really, really enjoyed it. Despite the loss, I really loved it,” the 6-5 275 Yager said. “ I have always had a connection with Coach (John) Strollo and Coach (Nick) Siatras”

Yager, a senior at Fort Wayne area powerhouse Carroll High School, is still searching for that first offer, mainly because of the catch up he has had to perform in the classroom.

”No, not yet,” Yager said when asked if he has received an offer from Ball State. “They tell me they want to, but I had a concussion that put me out of school for a month and a half my freshmen year that really set me back academically.”

The Cardinals are not the lone school keeping tabs on Yager either.

Indiana, Indiana State, and Butler all keep in touch,” Yager said. “I actually will be going to IU this weekend for the Michigan State game. I get weekly calls and mail from all of those schools, but Ball State has sent the most interest my way by a long shot.”

As the things that Yager can control off the field shake out, he also has major focus on the field where he has helped his Charger squad to an 8-0 record so far this season.

”The season is going great,” Yager said. “This is the first time in our school history we have a chance to claim the Northeast Hoosier Conference title. I couldn't ask for a better way to finish my senior season than to finish undefeated.”

Except maybe that elusive first offer.
