The two sport (and two school) athlete may have to pick between football and basketball as he chooses a college home for next season. As a star for Michigan City (IN) Marquette on the hardwood, Peals already owns on offer and could be picking up more.
“I have an offer in basketball from Chicago State,” Peals said. “And I think Western Kentucky and Illinois-Chicago are going to offer me this season too.”
As an incredibly athletic 6-4 185 WR for LaPorte LaLumiere Prep (Michigan City Marquette does not have a football team), Peals spent his junior and senior seasons catching passes and making plays completely under the radar. Now colleges are starting to take note.
“Ball State was here and Coach (Justin) Lustig,” Peals said. “He came and visited me at school today. He said they want me to come down sometime in January (for an official visit). I’m really looking forward to it.”
So with the prospect of having to pick a sport at the next level, what way is Peals leaning?
“I do want to play a sport in college,” Peals said. “I just don’t know which on yet. It would be nice playing both in college, but that probably wouldn’t work out to well. I know I have to make a decision here soon. It is something I’m going to have to sleep on.”
Sounds like if Ball State offers, someone needs to talk to Coach Whitford.
