Buening Checks Out Cardinals

Ball State was visited by one of the top Offensive Linemen in the state of Indiana this past week.

Evansville Central OT Chas Buening took in the campus of Ball State University this past week on an unofficial visit.

”It was awesome,” the 6-5 300 lineman said. “I had a great time and like everything a lot.”

Buening, who is one of the top offensive line prospects in Indiana in the class of 2016, didn’t come away with an offer from the Cardinals yet, but they are still recruiting him hard.

”I got there and toured the faculty and then toured the campus with a coach,” Buening said of the visit. “Then I sat down with OLine coach (John Strollo) for about 30 minutes and then sat down with Coach (Pete) Lembo for 40 minutes. They told me they like me a lot and are interested. I am going back up there next month to watch a practice.”

Buening says he is also hearing from Purdue, Indiana, Indiana State, Yale and has a visit scheduled to Miami of Ohio coming up.

So what is it about Buening (other than his size) that has college coaches knocking on his door?

” I believe I am a leader for my team and always competitive on the field,” he said. “I like to pull on blocks and get in the open field. I just have a love for football.”
