Long Impressed with Ball State

Ball State offered a multi-positional prospect out of Ohio on Monday evening.

Jake Long is seeing his stock rise and the offers roll in, he just has to pick a position.

The 6-1 180 RB/WR/DB from Columbus, OH (Hamilton Township) picked up an offer from Ohio earlier and added his second from Ball State during a visit to the school on Monday.

“I had a blast, the coaches were great,” Long said. “I am really impressed with the campus too.”

During his visit to Muncie, Long got a chance to meet with several coaches and tour the campus and facilities.

“I met with Coach (Nick) Siatras, Coach (Pete) Lembo, Coach (Shannon) Morrison, Coach (Justin) Lustig and Coach (Patrick) Daugherty,” Long said. “I got to see all the football facilities and the school of business, since that’s my major. I also saw the telecommunications school. I did a general tour and then they showed me points of interest. I was really impressed.”

The reason that Long met with so many Cardinal coaches was because he has the chance to choose what position he plans to play in college.

“They gave me the choice of what I wanted to play. RB, DB or WR,” Long said. “It felt good knowing they would allow me to make that decision and thought I was talented enough to do any of those. I play all three (at Blazer) and like them all.”

And if he was forced to pick?

“It's about what my team needs, but if I had to pick one it would be DB” Long said. ”A year ago I would've said RB, but now that I'm learning the position (DB) and how to perfect my DB skills. It's becoming like second nature. I'm comfortable at all three though.”

With offers from two Mid-American Conference schools already in hand, Long continues his visit tour this weekend with a stop at Toledo.
