Ball State Cardinal Commitment Capsule

Who: Dominick Mathis

Vitals: 6-4 295 from Indianapolis (IN) Warren Central

Other offers: None

Breakdown: Mathis is the quintessential (Ball State Offensive Line Coach) John Strollo guy. He is a versatile and athletic lineman. He can line up at any spot along the line and be more than serviceable. Mathis is quick on his feet and strong. He packs a great punch and is hard to get around in pass pro. Mathis can serve as a guy that can fit into a zone run scheme with his athleticism and can also pull and destroy in a man-blocking scheme. Mathis works well to the second level and plays with a lot of aggression. Mathis has faced stiff competition in his conference in Indiana, facing many Division 1 level Defensive Ends as well as facing several every day in practice. This constant competition he has faced will benefit him in the transfer to college. Mathis recently dominated the R.A.S. Camp in Fort Wayne and earned MVP honors among linemen.

Projection: Mathis is still growing into his body. He will excel once he gets into a college weight program and reshapes his frame. Mathis, like most freshmen O-linemen, will benefit greatly by a year as a redshirt developing his body and gaining strength and will be a force on the Ball State offensive line.
