” It was my first,” Plate said. “When they called me and told me I was just lost for words. I told them I really appreciate them believing in me, when everyone else has over looked me.”
Plate, a 5-10 170 receiver, was able to participate against some top flight competition at the Cardinal’s camp.
” I actually camped Thursday and Coach (Joey) Lynch, Coach (Alex) Bailey and Coach (Pete) Lembo all said I did great and I ended up getting offered the next day,” Plate said. “DeAndre House from Baltimore was there for corner and got offered (by Ball State as well), but me and him were competing hard with each other. It was the hardest camp I've gone to. They were really pushing us and treating us as their own players. I liked it a lot.”
Plate, who has received interest so far from Toledo, Iowa, Northern Illinois, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, Indiana, Notre Dame, Michigan State, and Miami (OH, has the tools to be a successful player at his position at the next level.
”With my 4.39 speed, they want me to play slot receiver,” Plate said. “I have really good hands and good body control. I can cause defenses a lot of problems.”
