Delaware Dual Position Athlete Can Play on Either Side of the Ball

Ball State Cardinal Commitment Capsule

Who: Frank Burton >

Vitals: 6-2 235, TE/DE, New Castle (DE) William Penn

Other offers: Delaware, Delaware State, Cornell, Holy Cross

Breakdown: Burton has the ability to play on either side of the ball and is an intriguing prospect. At TE, he is a solid receiver that is effective in the red zone and has solid hands. A willing and able blocker, Burton looks the part of a hybrid TE that the Cardinals use frequently in their offense. Burton is a decent route runner that will continue to get better in a college system. On defense, Burton has solid size and the ability to be stout against the running game while also having the athleticism to be a potent pass rusher. He has good burst off the ball and uses his hands well to shed blockers. His athleticism and ball skills translate well from offense as he shows the ability to bat down balls and read plays well.

Projection: Burton is intriguing as he is a prospect that can fit into multiple positions. In my opinion, he is better suited as a DE, where he can be effective at a hybrid standup DE/OLB. His pass rushing skills are already apparent and will get better and better as he bulks up and gets college coaching. He has the ball skills to drop into coverage and get the occasional surprise pick. This young man has the talent to be something special on either side of the ball.
