Ball State Season Preview: Offensive Line

A position-by-position breakdown of the Ball State football team as it prepares for the 2015 season.

With all five starters and 100 combined starts returning for the Ball State Cardinals, things should be in fine working order in 2015 for the Ball State offense.

Back are starters Drake Miller, Steven Bell, Jeremiah Harvey, Jalen Schlachter and Jacob Richard along with spot starter Nick Plavchak. Sprinkle in up and coming players like Vinnie Palazeti and Malik King and the Cardinals have a bevy of talented linemen to rely.

At tackle, Miller and Bell are back for the second straight year of starting opposite each other. Both have added weight and are listed at 305 and 298 respectively. Behind them is Plachak, a 6-5 301 5th year senior who started 4 games last year when injuries took their toll.

The guard spots return 5th year standouts Schachter (6-6 316) and former walk-on Harvey (6-1 302) are and experienced pair. Schlachter mains the strong spot while Harvey is slotted as the quick guard.

The man in the middle again will be 5th year Sr. Richard, who is a bit undersized (6-1 286), but makes up for it with intelligence and athleticism. Richard was named this offseason to the Riminigton Award watch list.
