Thomas Commits to Cardinals

Ball State picked up the third commitment of the Mike Neu era on Wednesday.

Lima (OH) OLB Jay Thomas new Ball State was the place for him when he stepped foot on the Muncie, IN campus last weekend on an official visit.

"Once I stepped foot on campus it felt like home," Thomas said. "The entire atmosphere was incredible. Campus was outstanding, the entire school is continuing to grow both academically and athletically. The entire coaching staff treated me like family and most importantly treated the people I love like family (Mom, Dad and Sister). Immediately it felt like a perfect fit for me as a Student-Athlete."

Thomas, a 6-3 215 LB, chose Ball State over an offer from Indiana State and ramped up interest from Kent State, Toledo, Miami, Purdue & Michigan over the past few weeks.

"It was such of a relief for me," Thomas said of ending the recruiting process. "Now I can take my entire mind off of recruiting and start preparing for the next level."

Thomas, a multi-sport athlete who is currently excelling in basketball, compiled 195 total tackles, 22 tackles for loss and 6 sacks as a senior.

"I am a lengthy and agile Linebacker, who has a good nose for the ball," Thomas said. "I make big plays, and I am a great leader on and off the field."
