Cardinals offer Michigan DT/DE

Ball State is the first program to offer one of the top Defensive line prospects in Michigan

Grosse Pointe (MI) South DT/DE Patrick Nauert came away from this weekend's junior day at Ball State with a great impression of the school and an offer, his first.

"(Getting the first offer is) Phenomenal, it's a huge relief," Nauert said. "I was at the junior day, I talked to Coach (Keith) Mckenzie a lot. Yesterday he messaged me on Twitter asking me to call him."

Nauert, a solidly built 6-4 275 lineman, played most of his prep career at DE but projects as a guy that can play the 3 tech DT or slide outside in short yardage situations.

"Right now I play as a DE," Nauert said. "I dominate the field with my strength. (I have) Decent speed but my pass rushing is really improved by my moves. I hit quarterbacks and running backs hard. By the 4th quarter they're run down and I'm still going hard. From a team perspective I've always been a leader on and off the field."

With the Cardinals offer in his pocket, Nauert still has a plethora of schools looking at him for his services including Harvard, Columbia, Brown, NorthwesternIllinois, and Central Michigan.
