Ball State gets visit from LB

A Kentucky LB was one of the many recruits who ventured to Ball State for the Cardinals' annual Spring Game

The change in atmosphere and energy was palatable, even for those just visiting the program. One such player who came away extremely impressed with the goings on at Ball State was Park Hills (KY) Covington Catholic LB Alex Shelton.

"Ball State was great," Shelton said. "New facilities and the coaches are enthusiastic and I believe they are going to turn this program into a powerhouse here soon. I can't wait to be back."

Shelton, a 6-1 215 Middle LB, came away very impressed with all of the coaches he was able to speak with on Saturday.

"I noticed that the coaches were enthusiastic to the point of where I was ready to sign and play already at Ball State," Shelton said. "The positive energy around the program is at an all-time high and Coach (Mike) Neu brings so much energy to the program. He is a young guy who relates to the players and it's definitely a players program. I spoke with Coach (Patrick) Dougherty who is recruiting me and he was respectable to me and my family. It's clear he bleeds cardinal colors. Coach (Tim) Daoust and I joked around and he is the kind of coach I'd love to play for. He is relateable but expects nothing short of excellent. Coach Tilmon Clark and I spoke and he is incredible. He kept everything organized the entire day without blinking an eye. All of the coaches are loving what they do and it is noticeable. I even had fans and alumni come up to me and welcome me, tell me many reasons why Ball State is the way to go.  Class Act coaches and top of the line facilities. Ball State I'd definitely on the rise and will compete year in and year out for the MAC championship."

Aside from Ball State, Shelton is also hearing from Indiana, Butler, Wofford, Austin Peay and Tennessee Tech.
