Cardinals Add Transfer Guard

Ball State picks up a transfer and other news and notes

Ball State added depth to the backcourt for the future when it picked up a transfer from former Incarnate Word CG Jontrell Walker.

The 6-1 188 Junior was the 2015 Southland Conference Freshman of the year when he poisted 13.7 points per game and almost 2 assists. This past season, Walker split time as a starter and a reserve while posting 12.6 points, 1.9 assists and a steal a game. Walker was also a 93% free throw shooter.

Walker saved his best games for the top competition last season – scoring 17 points against Purdue, 16 with 3 steals against Oklahoma, 13 points with 4 steals against Cal and 20 and 4 assists against St. John’s.

Cardinals Still Have Spots for 2016

With the recent transfers of Guards Naiel Smith and Jeremiah Davis, Ball State still has 2 open scholarships left. The Cardinals currently have open offers to a pair of current high school players and have been courting several other transfers.

The Cardinals recently offered 6-4 180 PG Jay McMiller of Hanover-Horton in Michigan. The sharpshooting McMiller was a stat sheet stuffer last season – poting 18.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.

The other offer open is with 6-9 185 PF Zach Hollywood. The former James Madison commit, has offers from Youngstown State, Evansville, Fairfield and American. The Bradley-Bourbonnais (IL) Senior visited the Cardinals this week for an official.
