Story by Micah Gabler, Ball State Insider Intern
Ethan was offered recently during a Ball State visit. When asked about his visit at Ball State, Merriweather had all good things to say about the program.
“The visit was great, and I could tell they were really invested in me as a player and person.” Merriweather said. “I got to sit down with Coach (Mike) Neu, and we talked about football and watched a lot of film.”
Merriweather added that he loves the staff.
“The staff is amongst the best I have ever met. They are all really passionate, and I think it is cool many of them either played for Ball State or have ties to Ball State, also the Quarterback situation and Offensive scheme are both extremely attractive.”
I also had a chance to talk to Ethan’s Head Coach at Carmel, John Hebert. Coach Hebert had plenty of good to say about Ethan.
“Ethan has worked extremely hard in the offseason, making large gains in the big three lifts, which has translated into much better explosiveness and body control.” Herbert said. “He runs excellent routes and catches the ball very well. I expect him to have a very good year in 2016.”
Merriweather said he is still open in his recruitment so he is not sure on a decision date, but would like to know before the season. Some other schools Merriweather is looking at are: Purdue, Bowling Green, Miami (OH), and Ohio.
Merriweather does plan to visit the Cardinals again sometime, with a teammate or two.
