Cardinals Land Big In-State Commitment

Ball State kicked off an amazing weekend of recruiting by landing an in-state commitment.

Whether he knew it or not, Fishers (IN) Hamilton Southeastern Safety Brock Burns was the guy who kicked off an incredible recruiting weekend for the Ball State Cardinals Coaching Staff by pledging his commitment to Head Coach Mike Neu on Friday.

"It feels great," Burns said of the announcement. "It's nice to know that I am committed to a great school, and can strictly focus on getting better and prepared for the High School season."

Burns, a rangy 6-4 185 Safety, chose the Cardinals over offers from Western Michigan, Buffalo and East Tennessee State.

"In the end, Ball State felt like home," Burns said. "Academically, I love what the school has to offer. Athletically, I believe that the new coaching staff is turning the program around and moving them in the right direction. I love the competitive atmosphere in Muncie and I want to be a part of the movement."

Burns is a physical run stopper that attacks opposing ground games swiftly and downhill. He is also capable of being the center fielder and is hard to beat over the top.His ability to also get physical coverage on smaller slot receivers while having the size to defend TEs in one-on-one situations is also a plus.
