After narrowing down his list of schools to three last weekend, Ossian (IN) Norwell High School OT Curtis Blackwell made his final decision yesterday - verbally committing to Ball State during the football program's Super Saturday event.
"Really the coaching staff and they made me feel at home," Blackwell said of his decision. "It is also close to home and they have what I want to study, which is construction management and I was just automatically drawn to their program and I knew it was where I had to be. Coach (Mike) Neu is going to get it done in the MAC down there at Muncie."
Blackwell, a 6-5 270 OT, had narrowed his list down to the Cardinals, Toledo, and Bowling Green but had also secured offers along the way from Columbia, Eastern Kentucky, Ohio, Miami (OH) and Northern Illinois.
Blackwell, who had visited a handful of times to the Ball State campus, was in attendance at the Super Saturday event held at Schuemann Stadium.
"It was amazing," Blackwell said of Saturday's event. "I knew it was where I needed to be."
With his decision out of the way, Blackwell can now focus on turning his high school program around after a difficult junior season, but he still had one more piece of information for all fans in Cardinal Nation.
"We are going to get some rings and win some championships for Ball State."
