Yesterday was great," Merriweather said. "I got to talk in depth with (WR) Coach (Alex) Bailey and (head) Coach (Mike) Neu about my recruiting process and some one on one stuff. Met a few other recruits who were also committing or close to committing sometime down the road. By the time I left I was sure that BSU was the place for me."
Merriweather had been a target of the Cardinal staff for the past month after picking up an offer, his first, back in May. During that time, Merriweather had been able to visit and see first hand what the program has in store.
"I felt extremely comfortable and strongly connected with the staff and the program," Merriweather said. "My family can watch me play which is big for me. I feel like I can fill the receiver role that they need from my class and excel in the offensive scheme."
The 6-2 180 WR now focuses his attention solely on his senior season at Carmel, a powerhouse program in the northern suburb of Indianapolis.
"At Carmel the expectation every year is to make it to state," he said. "And for our senior class we want to break the streak of coming up short in the final game. We definitely have a good shot at winning the MIC championship as well."
