Cardinals Pick Up WR/RB from Northern Indiana

Ball State found a hidden gem at their satellite camp in Merrillville.

Coaches will tell you that one of the best ways to pick up a scholarship offer is to perform in front of them at a college camp. For Michigan City (IN) WR/RB Markice Hurt, a stellar performance in front of Ball State coaches at the Cardinals' Satellite Camp in Merrillville (IN) led to an offer and eventual commitment to Head Coach Mike Neu and staff.

"The thing that stood out to me the most was there outlook on being a student first," Hurt said of his commitment. "They take grades and school very seriously and i feel like that's the environment that i needed."

Hurt, a 5-9 183 slot receiver, also had great things to say about the staff that he performed for at camp.

" My impression of them was fantastic, they were full of energy almost more excited than some of the players," Hurt said.

Hurt is a quick and compact athlete that is a terror in space for opposing players. He pops out on film with his overall speed and ability to bring a multi-faceted attack from the slot. Hurt has lined up at RB and at WR in high school and is capable on screens, sweeps and working the short flat areas against opposing LBs and Safeties.
