Analysis: Phillips is a tough, versatile player that will fit well in the Ball State Secondary. He has adequate speed to be a corner and showcases the ability to be very physical in bump and run coverage along with being able to read and react in zone. Phillips, who also plays as a WR, has excellent ball skills and is athletic and able to get to the high point with a receiver. As a senior this past season, Phillips picked off 5 passes, showcasing his strong ball skills. A physical player, Phillips shows no problem coming downhill and attacking the run and will surely develop into a strong blitzer. Possibly Phillips' strongest asset is his confidence. Phillips is strong willed and will not let himself get beat by his opponent.

Outlook: We really like Phillips’ game. He has the ability to play a couple of different positions (FS, DB & Nickle) and will compete physically with anyone. Phillips projects as a guy that can be a Nickle corner to start because of his coverage skills and ability to play the run, and mold into a corner who can be physical and cover effectively in man coverage. Phillips also brings value to special teams where he can excel as a gunner.
