Kyle Simmonds is fairly new to it all.
The 2018 OT from Columbus (OH) Bishop Watterson is just now starting to get his feet wet in recruiting and also fairly new to the sport of football after picking it up in middle school. Simmonds made a visit to Ball State last weekend to check out the Cardinals for Homecoming.
"I absolutely loved my visit," Simmonds said. "Just pulling up to the campus you could tell whatever the students can participate in, they do wholeheartedly. I was also impressed by how much has been invested into the campus within the last couple years. I enjoyed having the opportunity to talk with Coach Joey Lynch, Coach (Ben) Armer, and Coach (Tim) Daoust."
The 6-4 270 OT, who missed out on the camp circuit last summer while recovering from labrum surgery, has visited Eastern Michigan and Youngstown State. He is also still growing, not only into his body, but into the sport itself.
"I'm new to the game after starting it in eighth grade," Simmonds said. "But I've never had my love for something grow so quickly. My intensity is something that stays maximum whether we're up by 21 or down by 21 because I am one who, no matter the mental or physical battle, will keep fighting with everything I've got."
