Indiana WR, polished, ready to contribute

A look at the 27 players added to the Ball State roster on signing day 2017.

WhoEthan Merriweather

High School: Carmel (IN) Carmel

Current Height/Weight: 6-2 180

Current Position: WR

Other Offers: None

Analysis: Merriweather is a polished looking receiver with size and skill, and looks ready to make contributions to the Ball State program. What he already shows on film is solid route running skills and great hands. Merriweather has above average speed which will help him gain separation as he perfects his already strong route running at Ball State. He is able to make plays against good coverage, high-pointing and fighting for the ball. At 6-2 he has good size and solid arm length to help him be a good target on deep passes and in the red zone. Merriweather is developing in the intermediate area and also as a quick screen runner. This will come with practice. At 180, Merriweather is a bit on the thin side, but he will be able to support good weight on his frame and play around 200 pounds.

Outlook: Look for Merriweather to compete to be on the field early on a young Cardinal WR corps looking to replaced some of their top targets and increase overall competition. His ball skills and size will be assets for sure. As Merriweather grows and learns his position, he will be able develop into a go-to target. We expect big things from Merriweather.
