Ball State Adding Electric Space Player

Shedding a little light on the verbal commitments thus far for the Class of 2017

WhoMarkice Hurt

High School: Michigan City (IN) Michigan City

Current Height/Weight: 5-9 183

Current Position: RB/SLOT

Other Offers: None

Analysis: Markice is a multi-faceted player. He is able to play multiple positions and do multiple things for the Ball State offense. This makes Hurt a fascinating prospect. First thing the pops off the film with Hurt is his speed and quickness. Hurt is a home run threat with the ball in his hands. He has the shifty quickness to elude defenders and get to the second level and into space where his speed can take over. This is what his greatest asset is, his ability to play in space. Whether it is as a standard RB or in the slot running jet sweeps or bubble screens, Hurt must have his hands on the ball with the space to make guys miss in the short area and use his speed to get big yardage. Hurt is a more than capable ball carrier and also a more than capable receiver.

Outlook: Hurt will fight for playing time in a crowded back field, but should be able to find his niche. He will likely redshirt as he is a similar style player as current RB Darian Green. After a year in the weight room, he should be primed to make an impact as a RB, Slot receiver and kick returner.
