Analysis: What’s not to like about Shahid Reece’s game? We can’t find anything ourselves. Reece is a multi-tool player. He can run, hit, read, react, anticipate, blitz, cover and ballhawk. He is everything the Ball State Coaching Staff wants and needs in a LB. Reece has great size/frame at 6-1 220 and he has great speed (4.65 40 time). His film shows a player that is comfortable dropping into coverage and locating receivers to either hit or cut off for an INT. Reece is terrific at reading screens and reacts in a hurry. He is a run stuffer that finds his gap and attacks in order to get to the RB as soon as possible. To top it off, Reece is great at timing and disguising his blitz and is effective at getting to his QB. Reece also a solid special teams player, with the ability to use his speed and ability to hit to disrupt and make plays.

Outlook: It is a question of when, not if Reece sees the field. Reece will certainly be a factor quickly with his abilities on special teams coverage. Reece is also a highly skilled and highly athletic player who has an extremely high ceiling. It all depends on how well Reece adapts to the college game and how quickly he can pick up David Elson’s defense.
