Cardinals The First for Ohio DB

One of Ohio's best kept secrets picked up his first offer this week.

The first offer is the hardest to get, and sometimes it is the most surprising.

On Tuesday, Lewis Center (OH) Olentangy Orange DB Jayden Rodgers picked up his first offer - from Ball State - which was still sinking in on Wednesday.

"It feels weird, to be honest," Rodgers said of the first offer. "I don't know how to feel, but it does make me hungrier to get more and work harder."

Rodgers, a 6-1 172 DB, admits he doesn't know a great deal about the Ball State football program, but he does have a friend who can help.

" I don't know much about it (the Ball State program)," Rodgers said. "But I am good friends with (Ball State DT) Chris Crumb and he seems to love it there. And the football teams seems to be pretty consistent which I like a lot."

Aside from his offer, Rodgers is also hearing from ToledoColorado State and Eastern Michigan, and expects to see more offers flowing his way as schools discover him.

"I think I'm a very good size for a corner and have length which can give me a slight advantage on the field sometimes," Rodgers said. "Also I am versatile and can play on the offensive side of the ball too. So I feel that I can bring a lot too the field and I could help the program by staying positive and being a good teammate."
