Ball State Offers Defensive Lineman

College coaches take notice when you are 6'4" and 245 lbs. and demonstrate good athletic ability. When you also have a 3.5 gpa on a 4-point scale and want to study pre-medicine or dentistry in college you turn heads! That is exactly what happened to the Ball State coaching staff at their one day camp last month at Crown Point HS.

Dan Manick was the guy working hard and demonstrating his talent and it definitely paid off! "Receiving my first major college offer was special and exciting for me" Dan reported to the BallStateInsider.com "I thought I had a real good camp, I received a lot of attention from the coaches and really enjoyed the way the camp was run". The camps Ball State put on around the state are known for being fast paced and up tempo similar to how Ball State runs their typical practice with their team. The Crown Point HS camp being in NW Indiana attracted prospect talent from a number of states as far away as Iowa and Wisconsin while drawing top players from the metro Chicago area and lower Michigan as well! "It was an opportunity for me to show the coaches what I could do and I wanted to make the best of the opportunity" Dan reported.

Evidently his effort paid off as just a few days later and after Ball State Head Coach Brady Hoke and Defensive Line Coach Phil Burnett had the opportunity to view his Junior tape he received the call he was hoping would come. Coach Burnett called and offered me a scholarship my first at the major level! Dan has also camped this summer at Central Michigan University and went with his HS team to the University of Illinois Team camp. The two sport athlete (baseball being the other) reports he enjoyed the CMU and Illinois camps as well! The Central Michigan camp was good as we did a lot of skills testing during the day and again it was an opportunity to perform and show case my abilities according to Dan. Illinois was fun because my HS team got a chance to compete against teams in Illinois that we would normally never see on the field of play. Manick also said the Ball State camp is designed different from most camps as we really got after it with a variety of drills, position fundamentals, technique enhancement and received considerable amounts of instruction from the coaches – I learned a lot in just one day!

The schools I am hearing from the most right now besides Ball State University are Bowling Green State University, Central Michigan University and Indiana University but I also talked to Army recently!
BallStateInsider.com will report further news coming from Dan Manick as it happens!
