Ball State OL Prospect Talks About Recruiting

The BallStateInsider.com caught up with Blaine Schafer fresh off his teams victory over the Bremen Lions 35 - 20. "My teammates and I are focusing on our game Friday with arch rival Rochester in their annual battle for the coveted "Hickory Stick" traveling trophy" Blaine reported. The game will be played at Plymouth on their home field known as "The Rock Pile".

Blaine is certainly focused on his senior season in HS but knows he will be playing major college football next year as well. Having garnered considerable interest from MAC and Big Ten football programs Blaine currently has offers from Ball State University, Bowling Green State University and Western Michigan University. Central Michigan University, Indiana University, Purdue University, Miami University and the University of Illinois are the other major college football programs showing the most interest in Blaine at this time.

A torrid month of June found Blaine attending FB camps at Ball State, U of I, Western Michigan, Bowling Green and IU. Bowling Green was the first major program to offer late last spring but offers from Western Michigan and Ball State came in during the month of June. Blaine reported that he visited Ball State last season for a game with his family as he has a brother who is a junior at the Muncie campus. Blaine also saw last season Western Michigan play and defeat Northern Illinois as one of his HS coaches (Mike Kerschner) played in the OL for WMU and set up the visit.

While originally wanting to make his decision early Blaine states that he is still open and has not decided on a favorite at this time. Looking for an opportunity to play early and a school that offers the right academic fit will be the key driver in his decision. Blaine also noted all the renovations taking place at Ball State's Scheumann Stadium as being outstanding! The fact that the entire BSU starting OL will graduate his second season of college football is a factor that has not gone unnoticed by Blaine when talking about what he likes about Ball State.

Blaine stated "I will just know" when the time feels right for me to announce my decision but I certainly do not want to wait real long and loose an opportunity. "I want to go where I am really wanted and not end up as a tier 2 or 3 prospect at some other school" Blaine confirmed. Having recognized the downside of the recruiting process Blaine finds himself in a comfortable spot with the schools that are showing him a considerable amount of interest now. Having offers from three schools to date that really want his services is indeed a good place to be for a young man that has a bright college football career in front of him. Some thing tells this reporter Blaine is going to be successful no matter where his life path takes him!

Blaine has promised to inform the BallStateInsider.com if he receives another major offer and/or has made his decision. Stay tuned as we will be the first to bring you the news and we will also have more on Blaine in the next week or so.
