Blaine Schafer On Ball State

The recruiting process has started to sort itself out for northwest Indiana prospect Blaine Schafer. BallStateInsider.com checks in with him to see where the Cardinals stand.

We recently caught up with Blaine Shafer to get his take on the unofficial visit he made with his family this past weekend to see the Cardinals take down the University of Buffalo 49-14. "The visit went well, we got to see a good win, and I talked with some of the coaches. I got to see coach (Eddie) Faulkner, he's been recruiting me. I also talked with (offensive line) coach (John) Powers and Coach Hoke," Blaine said.

The recent changes in the football program have not gone unnoticed by the 6'6" 275 pound offensive tackle. "I really liked the renovations they made to the stadium. I got to walk around the facility, and was really impressed with it."

Blaine was also impressed with the coaching staff and the play of the now 3-2 Cardinals. "It would be great to work with Coach Powers, and I like Coach Hoke and the style of the offense," he said. "Ball State is an up and coming team, and I'd like to be a part of that."

Blaine currently has offers from Ball State, Bowling Green, and Western Michigan, and is receiving interest from several other MAC and Big Ten programs. He has recently narrowed his choices down to BSU and BG. When asked if he favored one school more than the other he said, "Right now I'm stuck between Ball State and Bowling Green. I feel comfortable with the coaching staffs at both schools, and I'm just weighing the pros and cons of each program." Blaine has visited both schools recently, and will probably take a few weeks before he makes an official decision.
