The Cardinals Continue The Climb In All Polls

Ball State Football continues their climb in the National Rankings,as the latest polls have the Cards up to 12th.After a convincing win over a very good Western Michigan team,the boys move their record to 12-0.The BCS(Bowl Championship Series)along with The Associated Press puts them at 12th,while the USA Today Coaches Poll has them slotted as the 13th best college football team this season.

Ball State's football team, which improved to 12-0 overall and 8-0 in the Mid-American Conference with a 45-22 win over Western Michigan in the regular season finale, is ranked for the eighth straight week.

The Cardinals clinched the MAC West Division Championship with the win over WMU, and will face East Division Champion Buffalo in the Marathon MAC Championship Game Friday at Ford Field in Detroit, Mich. The game is slated for an 8 p.m. start and will be televised nationally on ESPN2.

Ball State, which has been ranked this season for the first time in school history, is ranked 12th in the Bowl Championship Series Standings and in The Associated Press Poll plus is 13th in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Ball State was ranked 15th in each of the polls last week.

The BCS Standings use three polls to compile their percentages -- the Harris Interactive Poll, the USA Today Coaches Poll and computer rankings. There are six computer rankings used to come up with the one-third of the BCS Standings.

Ball State is 11th in the Harris Interactive and 12th in the compilation of computer rankings.

Ball State, under the direction of sixth-year head coach Brady Hoke, has tallied 12 wins in a single season for the first time in school history. Ball State's unblemished conference record is the first for a Ball State team since the 1978 team went 10-1 overall and 8-0 in the MAC.
