Ball State Class of '09: Jason Pinkston will continue the tradition of highlighting each player that signs a letter of intent for a given class. This time around it is the class of 2009. Here is a brief scouting report on each of the 22 players in the class. Today we have the 19th of those 22 installments.

Jason Pinkston, 6-2 180 CB, Cleveland (Glenville)

What he brings: Jason is a tall and athletic corner, which is something Mid-American Conference schools covet. Jason has the size to not be beaten over the top by taller WRs, but also has the quickness and coverage skills to stay with just about everyone. Jason looks on film to have good hips and recovery speed as well and has good ball skills which should translate into him getting quite a few picks in his career. Pinkston comes from a great program in Cleveland Glenville and his coaching from that level and overall talent and athleticism should put him above the curve for your typical incoming freshman.

Areas of improvement: While Jason is a big corner, he is something of a cover only guy. I did not see a lot of physicality in his play especially against the run. Jason will have to improve his play against the run in order to reach his top level of play. Also, as any corner who is coming into school, he has a lot of learning to do at a difficult position. He is ahead of the curve, but there is much to learn. grade: Jason wows me with his speed, athleticism and talent. He is truly one of the top players in this class. With the skills he possesses and some hard work, I would fully expect Jason to see the field sooner rather than later and he will probably walk on to campus this summer with a chance at starting in his first season. I expect big things from this big corner.
