Wermers transfering to Ball State

According to a story published yesterday in the Northwest Indiana Times, Ball State has picked up another big time transfer from Michigan. Read on to find out more.

Former Crown Point High School standout OG Kurt Wermers announced yesterday that he was heading south to Muncie, IN for the rest of his collegiate career and will enroll at Ball State.

Wermers, a 6-5 270 OG, decided to transfer from Michigan after a redshirt freshman campaign citing differences with the new coaching staff headed by Rich Rodriguez.

"I really didn't get along with the new coaches," Wermers told the Northwest Times. "They were bringing in a lot of different kids that were not my kind of crowd. Coach Carr's staff was a whole different ballgame. It was like a family. But when Rodriguez came in it was a whole different feeling. It was more of a business. I figured I'd get out while I could."

Wermers joins fellow former Wolverine Artis Chambers as a transfer to Ball State.

Wermers will sit out this coming season as a transfer and then suit up in 2010 with 3 years of eligibility left.
