Spring Game draws recruits to Ball State

Although it wasn't a typical spring game, the Ball State Cardinals held a controlled scrimmage on Saturday in front of a nice crowd of fans and a large group of recruits.

On a cold, but sunny Saturday morning, Ball State showcased its 2010 football squad with its annual spring game to cap the spring practice session.

Although it wasn't a full-fledge game like in season's past, Ball State did put on the pads that went full contact in a scrimmage in front of a few thousand hard-core Cardinal faithful.

Also in attendance was a large group of recruits including over 30 juniors and the entire class of 2010, which will dawn the Ball State uniform next season.

Standing out in the crowd were three DEs and a RB that made the trip to Muncie on Saturday.

Making his third unnoffical trip to Muncie was Bellbrook DE Bryan Baird. The 6-4 215 DE holds offers from Air Force, Ohio and Toledo - as well as Ball State.

Also there was Deonte Gibson of Cleveland St. Edward. The 6-3 235 Gibson reportedly holds offers from Bowling Green, Michigan State, Toledo and Stanford.

The third DE in attendance was 6-5 215 Hamilton Southeastern product Randy Gregory. The speedy edge rusher, making his second visit to campus, also has offers from Indiana and Purdue.

Finally, the newest recruit to gain an offer - Horactio Banks - took in his first experience in Muncie.

Banks, a speedy and quick 5-9 170 RB from Chicago Simeon, recently picked up his first offer from the Cardinals.
