Point Guard U In Business

You know when a kid is on cloud nine. After speaking with Josiah Turner on Sunday, it was clear: he's excited about being a Wildcat. Sean Miller's team won a significant recruiting battle this weekend for one of the nation's top guards.

The Arizona Wildcats made a statement over the weekend. Josiah Turner is a member of Sean Miller's team joining Nick Johnson and Sidiki Johnson.

"I knew that they would be in my top three but when it came on this visit it was crazy," Josiah Turner told Scout.com. "We had a lot of meetings and when we got down to it, I could have went to anyway on the East Coast but now my family can come to my games. I just really wanted to be a part of the tradition."

The Sacramento (Calif.) High standout was fired up when we spoke with him on Sunday. Turner said the visit blew him away and once he was around the fans, it was over.

Kansas, Arizona and UCLA would have been his final three.

Turner is ranked No. 24 by Scout.com. Each of the Wildcats three commitments are ranked in the Top 100. Doris Ward, Turner's mother, indicated Sean Miller's background both as a high level coach and player helped in the decision making process.

"Coach Miller was on the grind. He was everywhere. He was at all of our games during the summer time. He was a point guard and just his relationship with coach Miller. He didn't send his assistants. He got it done.

(Josiah) came here and went to the practice facility and he played with the guys. Who better to teach a point guard other than a an all-Big East point guard?"

Chalk up a big one for the Wildcats. This was a national recruiting battle for a potential McDonald's All-American.
