Iowa State Snags Juco Prospect

Iowa State added their second 2011 verbal commitment on Wednesday. This time around they went to the JUCO ranks.

Fred Hoiberg hopped a plane to Kansas on Tuesday in search of a guard and he found his man.

Tyrus McGee, a combo out Cowley County Junior College picked the Cyclones after looking at Colorado, Creighton and Wichita State, according to Cowley JC assistant Donnie Jackson.

"Coach Hoiberg did a great job of recruiting Tyrus and the relationship they built was a key factor in his decision," Jackson told "He is very excited to be a Cyclone."

According to Jackson, McGee will be a strong motor and an ability to shoot the ball to the table.

"Tyrus is hard working, blue collar player. He has a good mid-range game and shoots the ball very well from the 3."

McGee joins Elgin Cook to make up their current 2011 recruiting class.
