Minter Reaches Decision

The list of available big men was trimmed by one on Friday. Donte Minter, Fork Union's man in the middle, made his pick.

Minter Headed To Charlottesville

If you're keeping score at home, there's one less quality big man available as of Friday. Fork Union head coach Fletcher Arrit confirmed that Mount Ulla, N.C., native Donte Minter is headed to Virginia.

"It's ACC country and he knows he's got a chance to play at Virginia," Arrit said of the selection. Virginia had been actively trolling for a power forward the past few months.

Minter is the fourth member of Pete Gillen's recruiting class this season and will join Gary Forbes, T.J. Bannister and J.R. Reynolds in Charlottesville next fall.

The 6-8 Minter had been looking at Marquette and Utah as well, but visited neither. He put together an impressive season at FUMA and was the team's top interior threat. The lefty is crafty in the paint and his head coach was impressed.

"I think he can be very good at Virginia," Arrit said. "He's got one thing that is unusual [these days]: he can score. He has a knack to get the ball in the basket around the basket."
