"It's going very well," the 2011 prospect told Scout.com about his recruitment. "Things are changing."
"Basically I'm just trying to find the best fit for me," Tharpe said. "That's basically what I want to do. I want to go to the school that's going to fit me best for academics and playing and just being around good dudes."
Both Oklahoma and Kansas jumped into his recruitment recently. Jeff Capel's crew offered him a scholarship, while the Jayhawks are still evaluating him. Capel will stop by on Monday, while Bill Self will be at Brewster on Thursday.
"Recently Oklahoma just offered me," the four-star prospect said. "I think they have some strong interest in me. They've already been up here. Coach Capel and coach [Bill] Self are coming to see me on Monday."
At this point Minnesota is the only program he's official visited. But he's planning to set up a few other trips.
"I haven't set up any other visits yet," he said. "I definitely want to go visit Oklahoma. I'm definitely going to visit them. If I get an offer from Kansas I want to visit them. Then St. John's and probably N.C. State."
"If I end up getting an offer from Kansas I'm going to take a visit out there, as well as Oklahoma," he added. "I'm just going to feel everybody out and see what is best for me."
Although he's closing in on the start of his senior season, Tharpe, a Top 100 prospect, isn't in a hurry to make his college choice.
"I'm not going to rush into anything," Tharpe said. "I'm just going to take my time and wait it out."
