Wright Still In Early Stages

Ryan Wright, one of the top forwards in the west for 2012, has several West Coast programs showing interest in him...

Ryan Wright, 6-5 JR SF/PF Palmdale (Calif.) High, is a very intriguing prospect with a high upside. Wright is an explosive athlete and he plays bigger than his size. His perimeter ball skills still need polishing, but he's very good around the basket. There's a chance he grows into being a four, but right now we have him listed as a three.

I spoke with Wright recently and he gave me a list of schools that have been in touch with him.

"I'm hearing from Colorado, Utah, Santa Clara, USC, UCLA and Arizona," said Wright.

Wright said Colorado is the first school to offer him.

I asked Wright what he is looking for in a school.

"Someplace with a good basketball environment," said Wright. "The location doesn't really matter. I would like to be able to play early, if possible, but I don't have to be able to play right away."

Wright said he isn't anticipating making an early decision.

"I'd like to decide sometime during my senior year," said Wright. "I don't want to decide too early."

Wright said he has been to USC, UCLA, Loyola Marymount and Arizona on unofficial visits.
