Rico Tucker Wide Open

Rico Tucker, a 6-0 guard from San Diego, plans on playing this summer and evaluating his options in the fall...

Rico Tucker, 6-0 JR PG San Diego (Calif.) University, is a good athlete who is something of a combo guard at the moment. Tucker has excellent hops, and his jump shot is showing improvement, but he's not really a point guard at the moment. Ideally, his feel for the position improves over the next year and he ends up at the one down the road.

We spoke with Tucker recently and he told us that he is wide open after decommitting from San Diego.

We asked if the Toreros are still in the mix and Tucker replied, "They're definitely still involved. It was nothing against them or the staff, I just wanted to be sure -- to be as positive as possible."

We asked Tucker about other schools on his list. "North Carolina St., the whole WCC, Oregon, Oregon St. -- those are some of the schools," said Tucker.

Tucker doesn't plan on making a quick decision again. "Probably next fall, after the summer. I just want to have a good summer and give schools a chance to get a good look. Then I'll probably take my visits after the summer."

Tucker did say that he could take visits earlier, if he has the time. "I might take some unofficials if I can find time in my schedule. I have a tough workout schedule."
