Kiefer Making His Mark

At the Spiece event in early May, the Warrick County Wildcats made a surprise run at the championship. One of the key members of that team was PF Matt Kiefer. The 6-9, 215-pounder is drawing attention from a number of programs in the Midwest.

Kiefer Becoming A HM Target

Evansville (IN) Mater Dei is home to PF Matt Kiefer (), one of the stars for the Warrick County AAU team. As a junior, Kiefer averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds a contest. He received a 2001 invite to attend the Nike Camp, but will travel with his AAU team to an event instead of heading off to camp.

Right now, Kiefer says the only school to offer him is Purdue. With that said, he's fielding interest from Notre Dame, Marquette, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri and most recently Indiana.

Kiefer's been to Purdue and Notre Dame for unofficial visits and intends on seeing the campuses of Iowa, Michigan and the Irish and Boilers again in the near future.

"I just want to keep my options open and go around to other schools right now," Kiefer told "I want to see how the unofficial visits go and what the other colleges have to say."

Most schools are recruiting him as a PF who can swing a little to the small forward spot and double as a center as well.
