Pointer Joins Lavin's Crew

Dom Pointer made his college choice on Monday. He'll play in the Big East.

Steve Lavin is putting together a terrific recruiting class.

Monday morning Dominique Pointer, a top 100 prospect, gave Lavin and his staff at Saint John's a verbal commitment. Pointer confirmed the news.

"With the staff they have I think they can take my game to another level," Pointer said. "Playing in New York is any kids dream. New York, New York here I come."

The 6-foot-5, 180-pound wing is known for his defensive presence and athleticism. He strung together a major playing with The Family in July and that led to high major offers.

In the Pointer, a standout at Winston-Salem (N.C.) Quality Education Academy, picked the Red Storm over West Virginia and Michigan.

Pointer joins a trio of top 100 prospects in Maurice Harkless, Jakarr Sampson and D'Angelo Harrison. All four recruits are rated as four-star prospects.
