McDonald Goes With Big Ten School

Another big man is off the board. Trey McDonald made his college choice, leaving just seven center in the top 25 still available.

Following a major performance at the LeBron James Skills Academy, Trey McDonald's recruitment began to pick up.

He went from a mid-major priority to high majors sticking their nose in his recruitment. Turns out he scored a number of high major offers and on Monday he made a commitment to Ohio State.

"I thought it was a good situation," McDonald said. "I really like the campus, the coaching staff and the players. And I got my parents approval I knew it was the right spot."

McDonald, a 6-foot-9, 230-pound big man out of Battle Creek (Mich.) Central, also strongly considered Marquette, who he visited this past weekend, Wake Forest, Oakland, Minnesota and DePaul.

"I just really like the people there," he said about OSU. "The coaching staff and the players. I just really like their system and I can fit in their system."

The three-star recruit is the Buckeye's fourth commitment in the 2011 class. He joins top 100 prospects Sam Thompson, LaQuinton Ross and Shannon Scott.
