2012 Introduction: Katin Reinhardt

Katin Reinhardt, a very impressive junior shooting guard from Southern California, gives us some early thoughts on his recruitment...

Katin Reinhardt, 6-4 JR SG Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei, is one of the top prospects in the west for 2012. A prolific scorer, Reinhardt has deep range on his shot and the ability to finish inside against size. With continued development, he figures to be coveted by a number of high major programs.

I spoke with Reinhardt recently and asked about the schools that have been in contact with him.

"I like Cal, Arizona State, Utah, USC and UCLA," said Reinhardt. "I'm also hearing some from Colorado, Notre Dame, Boston College, Syracuse and Stanford."

I asked Reinhardt if any school stands out for him at this time.

"I really like Cal," said Reinhardt. "I like the way they play and their coaching staff is really good."

When asked if any schools have offered a scholarship yet, Reinhardt replied, "Utah and Colorado have offered. Arizona State and Cal are probably going to offer very soon, probably in the next week or so."

I asked Reinhardt if he has taken any unofficial visits.

"I've been to USC and I'll probably go to UCLA sometime in the next week," said Reinhardt.

When questioned about his impression of the local schools, Reinhardt said, "I like Coach O'Neill and I'd like to stay close to home so my family could go to games. I really like UCLA and they have a good program. Tyler Lamb was my teammate last year and he said he loves it there."

I asked Reinhardt what he is looking for in a school.

"I want to go someplace that will let me play the way I play," said Reinhardt. "I'll be looking at who is coming to the team and who is going. I'd really like to be able to play as a freshman. I kind of want to stay on the West Coast so my family can see the games."

Reinhardt said he has a time frame in mind for making his decision.

"Most likely I'll decide by the end of spring, towards the beginning of summer," said Reinhardt.

Reinhardt said he has a 2.8 GPA.
