Once known as just an athletic, live body, Bello has revamped his game. He's added a better ball handling skills, a mid-range floater and an overall more advanced ball skills.
After a strong spring, Bello, a 6-foot-3 wing prospect, showed his impressive talent on the AAU circuit. While some new schools tried to jump into the picture, Baylor was there from the beginning.
Baylor's loyalty is one of the many reason Bello, a standout at High Point (N.C.) Westchester Academy, opted for Scott Drew's squad on Thursday.
"I just feel like it's a great situation for me," Bello told Scout.com. "I like their style play, they way they play defense and the way they run the pick and roll. They get up and down the floor.
"They are a long and athletic team and that goes with my game," he added. "I think I fit in that pretty good."
Scott Drew's recruiting effort also stood out to Bello, who committed the same day as his teammate Quincy Miller.
"Coach Drew is a good guy and is down to earth," the four-star prospect said. "He says the right things and I feel like I can trust him and the rest of the coaching staff."
With his AAU and high school teammate heading to Baylor as well, Bello is excited about playing with a close friend.
"I think we are use to each other" Bello said about Miller. "We have a great feel for each other. I think it's going to be real fun. I'm excited."
Bello, who also has a former AAU teammate at Baylor cited Baylor's family feel.
"I think everybody is a family there," Bello said. "Everybody is together. It's not one person or one show. It's a family."
Bello is currently rated No. 8 at the small forward position at No. 32 overall.
