Asumnu Likes OU, Wisconsin
Houston (TX) Westbury Christian 6-2 SG Stanley Asumnu is one of the remaining players from the Class of 2001 who is yet to sign with a school. The reason being is that he has yet to receive a qualifying test score.
"I am closer on the ACT than I am on the SAT," Asumnu said. "I took the test June 9 and my mom called yesterday and they said the scores were already sent. I should know this week sometime."
In the meantime, Asumnu is scrambling to set up some visits. Here's the deal. He's going to take an official visit to Oklahoma on Monday. He's in the process of setting one up with Wisconsin as well.
"Right now, they are both right there. They are the ones who stayed with me even though they knew my situation. They didn't quit on me and I owe them a lot of respect."
Ok, what happens if Asumnu doesn't get good news in regards to his test score. "If I don't get qualified, Wisconsin talked to me about being a partial qualifier. Oklahoma hasn't talked much about being a partial. Prep school would be an option and junior college would probably be a third option."
So, why all the fuss over Asumnu now? Well, he can flat out stroke the jumper from downtown. He would have value to a program in that he can make shots from deep.
