Nickerson Makes A-10 Pick

E.Victor Nickerson had a tough decision to make. On Saturday the 6-foot-6 wing made his pick and plans to play in the Atlantic-10.

Alan Major scored the biggest commitment of his career at Charlotte on Saturday.

E. Victor Nickerson, a 6-foot-6 wing prospect out of Norcross (Ga.) High, committed to the first year head coach over strong interest from DePaul, Colorado, Georgia Southern and Wichita State.

"Charlotte runs a NBA-style pick and roll offense that appeals to me," Nickerson said. "Coach Major has a good history of working with wings, and I know he will help me develop on and off the court.

"I enjoyed my visits and really liked the diversity on the campus, he added. "I look forward to a great career at UNCC."

As a junior at Norcross, Nickerson averaged 9.3 points and 5.7 per outing. Norcross coach Jesse McMillan speaks highly of his senior prospect and thinks Charlotte is a great fit for the talented forward.

"E.Victor Nickerson is a young man of very high character," McMillan said. "He has goals that he has worked hard to achieve. He was easily one of the most important reasons for our success last season and looks to have a strong senior campaign.

"He worked diligently in the recruiting process to find the coaching staff and program that would put him in the best position for success, and I know he will have a great career at UNC-Charlotte."

Nickerson, a three-star prospect, is Charlotte's third verbal commitment in the 2011 class. Three-star recruit Terrence Williams and Fayetteville (N.C.) Trinity Christian standout Mike Thorne make up their three-man group.
